Chemical Peel

What is Chemical Peel?
Chemical peel is a treatment that uses a chemical solution to remove the damaged outer layer of the skin to reveal a younger, clearer and more radiant complexion. Chemical peels are performed on the face, hands, neck, back and shoulders, legs and other problem areas to treat fine lines, wrinkles, age spots and skin discoloration.

What is a Glycolic Acid Peel?
Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), often known as fruit acids. These are naturally occurring, non-toxic, organic acids. Glycolic acid peel is a safe process that removes a micro thin top layer of skin to deliver plumper, healthier and newer cells.

Glycolic acid peels are very useful for freshening and rejuvenation of the skin. The peel smoothes and softens the skin, diminishes fine lines, decreases acne scar, evens out discoloration and increases moisture retention.

What is a Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA) Peel?
Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peels are stronger and produce a medium-depth peel. These peels cause destruction to the deeper layer of the skin, thus permitting the underlying new skin to resurface. It is generally used for treating deeper scars and skin growths. Recovery from a TCA peel typically takes 7 to 10 days.

The TCA peel is used for more aggressive repair of sun damaged or acne scarred skin, soften fine wrinkles and lessen brown discolorations.

What is a PCA Peel?
PCA peel with hydroquinone & resorcinol evens skin tone and provides more exfoliation for oilier, thicker and more resilient skin types. It is effective on extremely sun damaged and thickened skin. It is also excellent for those with active/cystic acne and asphyxiated skin (dry on the surface, oily underneath).

What can I expect after a Chemical Peel?
After an Glycolic Acid peel, your skin may sting and be somewhat red and irritated. Occasionally very slight flaking in a few localised areas are seen for 1-2 days. These symptoms should subside as your skin adjusts to the treatment.

After a TCA peel, your skin may turn brown, feel dry, flake and peel for a few days.

You should avoid sun exposure and use sunblock after the chemical peel treatment.
